Hughes Networks Systems has dialled the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) for speedy clearance of its $500-550 million (about Rs 4,000 crore) foreign direct investment (FDI) proposal to establish a satellite communications system in India, which if cleared, is likely to sharply reduce satellite bandwidth prices and boost rural broadband penetration.
