The DPIIT under the Ministry of Commerce has directed the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) to cancel and re-tender the Tamil Nadu FiberNet Corporation (Tanfinet) initiative worth about Rs 2,000 crore to connect as many as 12,500 gram panchayats or village blocks following the allegations of restrictive conditions.
