There was a severe shortage of products like routers and LAN switches in the recent past, forcing telecom operators and internet service providers to petition DoT for help. The main reason for the shortage was delay in testing as Telecommunication Engineering Centre (TEC) used to certify all the products and sometimes the testing and certification could take months.
