On August 30 Trai granted a one-month extension to telcos to October 1 for whitelisting of messages containing URLs, OTT links and APKs (android application packages) or call-back numbers. The extension followed an ultimatum by the Trai to telcos on August 20 to halt transmitting messages containing URLs, OTT links and call-back numbers not whitelisted from September 1. Now, that has been extended to October 1.
